JOB SUMMARY

The Behavior and Physiology Research Associate will be a member of the team charged with manipulating gut-brain circuits and assaying behavioral or physiological effects in vivo and in vitro. Candidates should be highly motivated with previous experience in mouse behavioral and physiological experimental models. Successful candidates must be able to work effectively both in a collaborative setting and independently while possessing outstanding written, visual and oral communications skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Running mouse behavioral and physiological assays
  • Mouse surgery (stereotactic viral injection, cannula implantation)
  • Opto- and chemogenetic manipulations
  • Histology (primarily immunohistochemistry, possibly In situ hybridization)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

You must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or similar field
  • Research laboratory experience, preferably in a cell biology or neuroscience environment

Additional preferred experience includes: 

  • Mouse surgery
  • Mouse behavioral and physiological assays
  • Mammalian cell/tissue culture
  • Opto- and chemogenetic methods
