JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly creative, self-motivated immunology leader with significant experience in drug discovery to work as a member of an integrated team developing a novel platform for the discovery of new drug targets leading to transformational therapeutics.  The successful applicant will report to the Vice President of Drug Discovery Biology, guide the development of Kallyope’s immunology and inflammation strategy, and oversee internal and external drug discovery in this area from target discovery through candidate nomination.  This is a unique opportunity to impact both the strategy and execution of multiple programs driven by Kallyope’s leading biology on the gut and gut-brain axis.  

Candidates for this position will have deep expertise in immunology and inflammation and be well versed in the drug discovery process.  Ability to think creatively and solve problems is a must.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Development of Kallyope’s immunology and inflammation research strategy
  • Oversight of existing immunology and inflammation drug discovery programs
  • Leadership of external collaborations in the area of immunology and inflammation disease research
  • Identification of new targets within the gut-brain axis to treat immune and inflammatory conditions
  • Responsibility for leveraging state-of-the-art in vitro and in vivo model systems to interrogate multiple aspects of disease pathobiology in support of drug discovery programs
  • People management and mentorship
  • Management of resources at third-party contract research organizations (CROs)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

You must have:

  • Ph.D. in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology or a related discipline, or equivalent industrial experience
  • Prior experience (12+ years) in small molecule drug discovery
  • Discovery program team leadership
  • Experience in managing external collaborations
  • Demonstrated expertise in immunology and/or inflammation research and a strong understanding of the pathogenesis of immune and inflammatory disorders
  • Strong people management skills, with a record of managing and developing talent
  • Demonstrated scientific productivity and impact, as evidenced by strong publication record and ability to work effectively in a collaborative setting

Additional preferred experience includes:

  • Experience on drug development teams
